Held on: Saturday, March 7, 2026
Commemoration of International Women’s Day 2026
“Leadership, Education and Economy: Building paths together”
March 7, 2026 | 4th Consecutive Year
On March 7, 2026, for the fourth consecutive year, we celebrated International Women's Day under the theme: "Leadership, Education and Economy: Building paths together". This event has become a deeply meaningful space for our community one where we honor the achievements each of us has built over the years, while continuing to build the way for the generations that follow.
This gathering was designed as a safe, inspiring, and celebratory environment where women of all ages could connect, learn, reflect, and share experiences that strengthen the fabric of our community.
Keynote Speaker
We had the honor of hosting Dr. Edith Shiro a clinical psychologist and international speaker, who delivered a powerful and deeply human talk regarding the origins of trauma and the ways in which we can transform those experiences into personal growth. Additionally, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a book signing for her work, "El Regalo Inesperado del Trauma" (The Unexpected Gift of Trauma).
Panel: “Women Who Build Paths Together”
Our panel featured Hispanic women who are leaders in their respective fields; they shared the most significant challenges and lessons learned throughout their professional and personal journeys:
-
Cynthia Cardona, Director at a multinational corporation.
-
Karla López-Owens, Attorney and activist.
-
Rosa Gaeta Cornejo, Entrepreneur and owner of Mama Inés Bakery.
-
Moderated by: Jaynne Rivas, Professor at IUE.
During the Q&A session, the panelists offered valuable tools, advice, and perspectives to the audience, fostering an honest dialogue about the challenges and opportunities we face as Hispanic immigrant women.
Thematic Workshops
Throughout the day, educational workshops were held focusing on topics fundamental to women's holistic well-being:
-
Gender-based violence
-
Sexual and reproductive health
-
Love and attachment styles
-
Mental health for adolescents and young adults
These sessions allowed our participants to learn, reflect, and access essential resources entirely in Spanish a vital aspect for many women within our community.
Networking and Community
One of the most special moments of the event was our dedicated networking space, where volunteers, panelists, and participants shared ideas, experiences, and opportunities. It served as a reminder of the strength we possess when we come together to support one another and grow together.
We wish to express our deepest gratitude to the Indiana State Museum for opening its doors to us once again and providing us with an exceptional venue to promote education, leadership, and women's empowerment.
